Joe WehingerA bunch of years back
USC, I think, contacted us about interns. Maybe it was
UCLA, don't remember.
I never personally followed up. Someone did. We've had interns over
the years. From many schools. Some amazing. Some not. I am never
really sure what makes a good intern. It's like pornography - I just
know it when I see it.
I wasn't a good intern back in my film school days. I was awarded a
Kodak scholarship, and as a result spent May 2000 at the
Cannes Film
Festival. Someone explained that if I filled out one paper, that could
be my internship. So, technically I spent my internship, laying on the
beach, drinking at parties, watching huge premiere movies.
Oh yeah. And
Steve Rothenberg. See, that was the year
Blair Witch
came out and opened HUGE. Steve headed distribution at Artisan (who
released it). I met Steve at Cannes and we hung out. He was very good
to me: kind, generous, informative.
Back to us....
We need interns for fall semester 2009. People interested in:
1. Movies (writing, directing, producing, financing, maybe below-the-line stuff)
2. Magazines (journalism, photo-editing, publishing, on-line, traditional, advertising, media kits, media partnerships)
3. Events (hosting, invites, partnerships, concerts, live events)
I'm horrible with interns. I lock myself in my office with Vodka and
sushi all day and only come out for meetings. But we have other really
great people here who do teach and nurture and are very good.
Email us, put the word INTERN in the subject line. Contact me directly
